How to create and sell an online course on Klaasi, step by step
From a new course to your first student: modules and lessons, video uploads, a free preview, quizzes, certificates, a community, pay in parts and your course page design.
You know something people want to learn. Maybe it's baking, video editing, trading basics, makeup or how to start a small business. Klaasi lets you turn that knowledge into a course with video lessons, quizzes and a certificate, and sell it to buyers anywhere.
Your students watch on their phones, pick up where they left off, and pay in their own currency. This guide shows you how to build and sell your course, step by step.
New to Klaasi? Start with Getting started on Klaasi to open your shop first.
Step 1: Create the course
- In your dashboard, tap New product.
- Under What are you selling?, pick the course option: "Video lessons, quizzes and a certificate".
- Name it and say what it does. Say the result students get. "Bake and sell celebration cakes from home" sells better than "Cake course".
- Write a description: who it's for, what they'll be able to do, and what's inside. Short paragraphs work best on phones.
- Set your price. Set a naira price, a dollar price, or both. Buyers in Nigeria always see naira and everyone else sees dollars. If you leave one empty, Klaasi works it out from the other.
- Tap Create product.
On the next screen, tap Add your lessons. This opens your course builder. You can always get back to it from your products list by tapping Lessons.
The number of courses you can have depends on your plan. See the pricing page for details.
Step 2: Plan your modules and lessons
A course is made of modules (the big parts) and lessons inside each module. For example:
- Module 1: Getting started
- Module 2: Your first cake
- Module 3: Pricing and selling
Add a module
Under Add a module, type the Module title and tap +. Repeat for each module.
Add a lesson
Inside a module, tap + Add a lesson to this module. Then:
- Type the Lesson title.
- Pick the Lesson type: Video, Text or Quiz.
- Add your video or text (see Step 3).
- Tap Add lesson.
Use the ↑ and ↓ arrows to change the order. Tap Edit on a lesson to change it later, then tap Save lesson.
Let Klaasi AI plan it for you
Not sure how to structure your course? Tap Plan lessons with AI in the course builder. Tell it your topic, who it's for, the level and the size. It drafts modules and lessons, and with one tap they're added to the end of your course as text lessons you can edit. AI drafting tools are on the Pro and Business plans.
Step 3: Upload your videos
In a video lesson, upload your video file straight from your phone or computer. Phone quality is fine. Large files are welcome, and if your internet drops in the middle, pick the same file again and it carries on from where it stopped.
After the upload, press Add lesson or Save lesson to keep it. Klaasi then prepares the video so it plays smoothly on every phone and connection. This takes a few minutes. Until it's ready, the lesson says it's being prepared.
Prefer a video you've already posted? Tap Use a video link instead and paste a YouTube or Vimeo-style link.
Videos count toward your plan's storage. If your storage is full, Klaasi tells you.
Keep lessons short. Five to ten minutes each is easier to watch on a phone and easier to finish.
Step 4: Add a free preview lesson
Tick Free preview (anyone can watch before buying) on one lesson, usually the first. Visitors can watch it before they pay. It's the best way to show the quality of your teaching.
Drip lessons (optional)
Want lessons to open one by one? Use Opens this many days after a student joins. Type 0 to open it straight away, or 7 to open it a week after someone buys.
Step 5: Add quizzes
Quizzes help students check what they learned.
- Add a lesson with the type Quiz.
- Tap Edit on it.
- Set the Pass mark (%).
- Under Add a question, type the Question, write 2 to 6 Answers, one per line, and the Number of the right answer (1 for the first line, 2 for the second, and so on).
- Tap Add question. Repeat as needed.
On Pro and Business, you can also tap Make a quiz from this lesson with AI. It writes multiple-choice questions using only what the lesson says, and adds the quiz after that lesson.
Step 6: Certificates (automatic)
You don't need to design anything. When a student finishes every lesson, they see Get my certificate. They type their name, and Klaasi creates a certificate of completion with your name as the teacher and a check code.
Anyone can check a certificate at its link, and students can tap Add to LinkedIn. Certificates are a strong reason for students to finish your course and tell others about it.
Step 7: Give students a community (optional)
In the course builder you'll see Give your buyers a place to meet. Tap Turn on community to open a private group just for your students:
- Only buyers can get in. A refunded buyer is taken out.
- Students ask questions, share wins and keep each other going.
- Members earn points and levels, and you can open lessons at a level.
- Your posts show a Creator badge, and you can pin, hide or mute.
Students find it on the course in their library. Post a welcome message to get them talking. The number of communities and members depends on your plan.
Step 8: Design your course page
Open Selling tools for your course, then Page design. There are six designs. Course launch is made for courses: a preview, what you'll learn, an outline built from your lessons, the teacher and reviews.
Free includes Classic. Pro unlocks all six designs, your brand colour and section controls. Fill in Words on your page, like your Headline and What buyers get or learn, then tap Save page. Tap Write it for me to let Klaasi AI draft the words.
Add an intro video and pictures
In Selling tools, you can add a short intro video and up to six extra pictures. Buyers see "See what you get" on your course page.
Step 9: Set your price, discount and payment options
All of these live in Selling tools:
- Price & discount: change your price any time. Tap Run a discount to show the old price crossed out with the % off. Add an end time and buyers see a countdown. When it ends, the old price comes back by itself.
- Coupons: create codes like LAUNCH20 for a % off.
- Pay in parts (Pro and Business): let students pay in 2 to 6 parts, every 7, 14 or 30 days. They get access after the first part. If a part is more than 3 days late, access pauses until they pay.
- Pay what you want: let buyers choose the price above your minimum.
Step 10: Put it on sale
Check your course with Preview as a student. When you're happy, go to your products list and tap Put on sale.
A course with no lessons stays hidden, so add at least one lesson first.
Your course now has its own page and link. Share it on WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok and anywhere your audience is. Students pay by card, bank transfer or mobile money, and open the course straight away in their library.
What students see
Students open your course from their library. They see their progress, a Continue button with the name of the next lesson, notes they can keep, and a "data saver" mode for weak networks. When they're done, they get their certificate.
